Can pregnancy cause eczema?

I've had patches of dry, itchy skin appear on my arms and legs since I've been pregnant, and it looks a lot like eczema. I never had this skin problem before. Is it possible for pregnancy to trigger or cause eczema?

Please get this checked by a proper dermatologist or your OB-GYN immediately. I once ignored a bad skin rash thinking it was just dry weather and it became a massive, painful infection. Pregnancy changes your immunity, so do not delay the checkup.

I am also hearing about this for the first time. Is the itching very severe or is it just dry patches on your hands? Maybe you can ask your doctor in your next regular checkup if it is safe to use normal moisturizers.

Skin issues can pop up, but before you spend thousands on expensive specialty dermatologist consultations and costly imported creams, check with your regular gynecologist. They usually know simple, affordable ointments that are perfectly safe during pregnancy.

Aree, pregnancy is like a lottery ticket where you can win any random symptom! Yes, skin issues and eczema flares are quite common because the body is working overtime. Better to show the doctor than scratching like crazy all day.

Yes, it is often called eczema of pregnancy and is quite common due to immune system shifts. Keep track of when it flares up—like after eating certain foods or wearing synthetic clothes. Use a fragrance-free moisturizer and definitely update your doctor.
