Can pregnancy cause diarrhoea?

I've been experiencing bouts of diarrhoea quite frequently since I became pregnant. It's not something I normally deal with. Is it true that changes during pregnancy can sometimes lead to an upset stomach and diarrhoea?

Actually, diarrhoea in pregnancy is quite common yaar, especially because of all the sudden hormonal changes and new prenatal vitamins. Don't worry too much, just drink lots of coconut water and let your doctor know if it doesn't stop.

My wife had terrible diarrhoea during her first trimester and was totally drained out. We just gave her lots of ORS and simple khichdi, and our doctor told us to stop her iron tablets for a couple of days. It resolved pretty quickly, so just hang in there.

Beta, during pregnancy our stomach becomes very sensitive. Drink buttermilk with a pinch of roasted cumin powder, and eat ripe bananas to help settle your tummy. But if you feel very weak or dizzy, go to the hospital immediately.

Look, pregnancy completely changes your digestion, so loose motions can happen. But don't start self-medicating with random tablets from the medical store. Just stick to curd rice and call your gynaecologist if it goes on for more than a day.

Yes, hormonal fluctuations can speed up digestion, leading to diarrhoea. However, dehydration is a serious risk for both you and the baby, so it is highly recommended to consult your doctor for safe treatment rather than waiting it out.
