Can polycystic ovary syndrome cause weight gain?

I've been struggling with weight gain despite trying to eat healthy, and I recently found out I might have polycystic ovary syndrome. My friend with PCOS also mentioned this issue. Can polycystic ovary syndrome cause weight gain, or is my diet the only factor?

Yes, absolutely. I ignored my partner's sudden weight gain and mood swings for a year thinking it was just stress, and we really regret not getting her checked sooner. Please book an appointment with a specialist and get your thyroid and insulin levels checked before trying to self-manage.

My daughter faced this, she gained almost 8 kgs in a few months. We didn't do any fancy diets, just stopped outside junk food, started eating dinner by 8 PM, and she walked for 45 minutes daily. The weight started coming down slowly, so don't lose hope, simple routines work best.

I totally get it, it is so incredibly frustrating when you eat clean and still see the scale go up. PCOS causes insulin resistance, which literally forces your body to store fat. Please be gentle with yourself, it's your hormones playing up, not your lack of willpower.

I used to cry in front of the mirror because of how quickly I gained weight despite barely eating. It really breaks your confidence and makes you feel so helpless. Just remember you are dealing with a real metabolic condition, so please be kind to yourself.

I tried everything from spearmint tea to giving up dairy completely to stop the weight gain. Honestly, some home remedies help slightly, but what really worked was balancing my meals with protein and not starving myself. Don't fall for crash diets, they only mess up PCOS more.

It definitely causes weight gain, especially around the belly. Drinking warm cinnamon water in the morning and eating methi seeds can help with insulin resistance, but if you are gaining weight rapidly or feeling very exhausted, please see a doctor for proper guidance.

Haan, weight gain occurs very quickly in this condition and it is hard to lose too. My neighbor's daughter also had this issue, but she got much better after doctor's medicine and regular simple walks in the village. Don't worry, you will be fine, just take care of your health.

Back in my day, we didn't even know the name PCOS, we just struggled with weight and irregular periods silently. Looking back, I can tell you that worrying about the weight only makes it worse. Focus on your health and peace of mind first, the body will find its balance.

Weight gain is a major battle with PCOS, and I'm still dealing with it myself. It's different for everyone, so what works for one person might not work for you. I suggest getting a proper blood panel done and working with a doctor who actually listens to you.

Yes, weight gain is actually one of the most common symptoms of PCOS because of how it affects your insulin levels.
