Can polycystic ovaries cause false positive pregnancy test?

I've been diagnosed with polycystic ovaries and recently had a scare with a home pregnancy test that showed a faint positive, but then my period started. Could my condition have caused this? Can polycystic ovaries cause a false positive pregnancy test?

Honestly, no, a false positive is extremely rare. PCOS might mess up your cycles and cause missed periods, but it doesn't produce the hCG pregnancy hormone. If your test is positive, you are most likely pregnant, so go get a blood test done to confirm.

From what I've seen, PCOS itself doesn't cause false positives because urine tests look for hCG, not LH or other hormones. Sometimes, fertility medications used for PCOS treatment might contain hCG, which can cause a false positive. Best is to get a beta-hCG blood test done at a lab to be 100% sure.

I was actually reading up on this recently because my cousin had the same doubt. Turns out, unless you are taking specific hormone injections for fertility, PCOS won't make a test strip show positive. It's best to wait a couple of days and test again, or just visit a clinic.

I don't think PCOS directly causes false positives, but hormone fluctuations can make you feel pregnant with nausea and bloating. It is always better to consult your family doctor first instead of guessing. Eat light, home-cooked food to keep your gut happy while you figure it out.

I know how stressful the waiting and testing game is, it honestly drains you emotionally. But a positive test usually means you are pregnant, despite the PCOS. Try not to overanalyze every symptom right now and schedule a quick appointment with your doctor to clear your mind.

My friend went through this scare recently. She thought her PCOS gave her a fake positive, but when she checked with her doc, she was actually pregnant. Better to do a proper lab test and get it cleared up, dont rely just on those cheap home kits.
