Can plant sterols cause weight gain?

My doctor suggested I include plant sterols in my diet to help with cholesterol. I'm also trying to keep my weight in check. I'm wondering if adding plant sterols to my diet could lead to weight gain.

I have PCOS and I'm always very careful about supplements. From what I know, plant sterols themselves don't directly cause weight gain. But sometimes the spreads or drinks they are added to might have extra calories, so check the labels carefully.

I am not a doctor so I can't speak on the science, but I have been taking these for six months now. My weight has stayed exactly the same. I just make sure to monitor my daily physical activity as usual.

Hello there! I have been using plant sterol margarines for years to manage my cholesterol levels. I can assure you they don't cause weight gain unless you are overeating the foods they are in. Just use them in moderation as advised.

Haan, weight gain ka darr toh lagta hi hai na jab naya supplement shuru karo. But plant sterols se directly weight nahi badhta yaar. Aap bas apni regular diet pe dhyan do aur tension mat lo.

Honestly, with a busy schedule, we often miss tracking the actual food we eat. Sterols won't make you gain weight, but check if you are eating more processed foods lately. Stick to clean eating and you will be fine.

I totally panicked last month when I gained a kilo right after starting sterols. I thought the pills were ruining my weight, but my doctor cleared up that it was just some minor water retention from salty food. It went away in a week, so don't worry.

Haha, I thought my plant sterol spread was making me gain weight, but then I realized I was eating three extra slices of bread just to have the spread! The sterols are innocent, it is our cravings that we need to watch out for.

Sterols don't have metabolic properties that cause fat storage. If you are noticing a weight change, double-check your total daily calorie intake and make sure you are getting your daily steps in. Simple as that.

I recently started taking a plant sterol supplement for my cholesterol and I feel like my scale is ticking up. Has anyone else noticed this? Or is it just my mind playing games because I changed my routine?

I was actually reading about this yesterday because my dad needs them. Chemically, sterols don't have enough calories to cause weight gain at all. If people are gaining weight, it is probably just from the food items they are consumed with.
