Can pap test detect pregnancy?

My friend recently went for a regular check-up which included a pap test, and surprisingly, she found out she was pregnant through it. I thought pap tests were for something else. Can a pap test actually detect pregnancy?

Haha, no way! A Pap test is looking for abnormal cells on the cervix, not checking for a baby. For pregnancy, a simple 100-rupee urine strip from the local chemist is what you need. Save the Pap smear for your regular health checkups!

Haan na, some people get confused, but a Pap test cannot show if you are pregnant. It is only to check for infections or cell changes, ho na. Just do a regular home pregnancy test, it is much easier and accurate.

In our days, we didn't have these fancy tests, but let me tell you, a Pap test is strictly for checking women's health and screening for cancer. To check for a child, go to a lab for a beta-hCG blood test. It is the most reliable way, child.

When I went to my hospital for a routine checkup, the gynecologist explained that Pap smears only look for cervical cell changes. It doesn't detect hormones like hCG which indicate pregnancy. It is best to ask your doctor directly for a blood test if you suspect pregnancy.

As someone who has thyroid issues, I have to get regular hormone tests done, and pregnancy detection also requires specific hormone tests. A Pap test is purely cytological and won't show pregnancy status. Get a proper thyroid and beta-hCG panel done to be sure.

This is a very common point of confusion for many young women. A Pap smear is purely for cervical cancer screening and cannot detect pregnancy at all. Just buy a standard home kit or visit your local clinic for a quick urine check.

I had a Pap smear scheduled and was panicking that if I was pregnant, the test would get messed up or show it. Does anyone else get super anxious about these procedures? It is a relief to know they are completely unrelated things.
