Can ozempic cause liver damage?

My doctor has prescribed Ozempic for my diabetes. I'm concerned about the long-term effects on my organs, especially the liver. Is there a possibility that Ozempic can cause liver damage?

I love my rich Punjabi food too much to ever ignore my liver health! From what I know, this medicine actually helps reduce fatty liver rather than damaging it. But since everyone's body reacts differently, it is always best to keep your doctor in the loop and eat clean.

I am very new to reading about these treatments and was considering it for weight management. Hearing about liver concerns makes me a bit nervous. Do we need to do any special scans for the liver before starting this medication?

As someone managing a busy corporate schedule, I prefer sticking to facts. Clinical data shows this drug usually improves liver enzymes by reducing liver fat, but rare cases of liver issues have been noted. Get your routine liver function tests done and consult your specialist.

Dealing with high BP has taught me that we must protect our filtering organs at all costs. While this class of drug is generally considered safe for the liver, you should never start it without a proper prescription. Keep doing your routine health checkups and consult your physician regularly.

My grandmother always suggests warm water with turmeric for liver health, which we follow at home. However, for advanced medicines like this, we must rely strictly on science. It usually helps the liver, but you should always let your doctor monitor your blood reports to be absolutely safe.

I totally get it, worrying about long-term damage to your organs when starting a new drug can make you so anxious. The good news is that it actually helps with fatty liver in most people. But to ease your mind, please have a detailed chat with your doctor about your concerns.

In my line of work, we see that semaglutide actually helps reverse fatty liver disease in many patients. True liver damage is extremely rare, but individual enzyme spikes can happen. Just make sure to get a baseline liver function test done before starting, and let your doctor monitor you.
