Can openers for seniors with arthritis?

My elderly parents both have arthritis in their hands, and simple tasks like opening cans and bottles have become a real challenge. I'm looking for special can openers designed for seniors with arthritis. What options are out there?

For seniors who have joint pain and need to manage diet carefully, kitchen work should be easy. I use a battery-operated automatic can opener. It helps me open canned beans without putting any pressure on my weak fingers.

My mother's doctor at Fortis recommended using adaptive kitchen aids to avoid joint deformities. Electric can openers are highly recommended for senior citizens. Do ask their orthopedic doctor for more ergonomic suggestions.

I was so worried my grandfather would hurt himself trying to use those old sharp metal openers. I spent hours researching and got him a smooth-edge automatic opener. It cuts from the side so there are no sharp edges either, much safer!

Go for a hands-free electric can opener that stops automatically. Many seniors don't have the grip strength to hold down a button, so the one-touch models are the absolute best choice for them.

It is so hard to watch our parents struggle with simple tasks they used to do easily. Buying my mother an under-cabinet jar and can opener really helped her feel independent again. It really boosts their spirits.
