Can not washing hair cause dandruff?

I often go for several days without washing my hair because I feel it dries it out. But now my scalp is itchy and flaky, and my friends say it looks like dandruff. Can not washing my hair properly cause dandruff?

If you don't wash your hair regularly, the oil build-up creates severe dandruff, and then you'll have to pay expensive consultation fees to a dermatologist. Better to buy a simple, budget-friendly ketoconazole shampoo from a local pharmacy and wash your hair twice a week to keep the scalp clean and save money.

In our days, we washed our hair regularly with shikakai to prevent any oil accumulation. If you leave your hair unwashed, dust and sebum will build up, leading to severe itching and dandruff. Keep your scalp clean and use a little lemon juice sometimes, you will be fine.

Absolutely, yes. My health app has a hygiene tracker, and I've noticed a direct correlation: when I skip washing my hair after heavy gym workouts, the accumulated sweat feeds the malassezia fungus on my scalp, triggering heavy dandruff. Make sure to wash your scalp after sweating.

I am so worried about my hair thinning that I stopped washing it frequently, but now my scalp is itching like crazy and flakey. Does anyone else feel like washing their hair actually causes more hair to fall out, or is it just the unwashed scalp causing dandruff and hair fall? I'm so confused.

Actually yaar, the humidity in Mumbai is so bad that if I don't shampoo at least three times a week, my scalp becomes a sticky, dandruff-filled mess. Leaving your hair unwashed is basically inviting fungus to grow on your head. Just wash it regularly, please!

For sure. When you work out daily, sweat and sebum mix together on your scalp, creating the perfect environment for yeast to multiply. If you don't wash it off with a decent shampoo, you will end up with stubborn dandruff. Cleanliness is key for a healthy scalp.
