Can non hormonal iud cause weight gain?

Thinking of getting a non-hormonal IUD for birth control, as I want to avoid hormonal side effects. But I've heard some people say they gained weight with it. Can a non-hormonal IUD actually cause weight gain? I'm quite particular about my weight.

Since it is non-hormonal (like the copper T), it shouldn't directly cause weight gain like hormonal options do. However, with PCOS, our weight can fluctuate due to inflammation or stress anyway. It’s always best to track your symptoms carefully and speak to your gynecologist.

I had a copper IUD for years and honestly, my weight gain was purely due to my love for samosas, not the device! Since there are no hormones in it, it doesn't affect your metabolism. Don't worry, but maybe keep an eye on your late-night snacking.

I read so many mixed reviews online and got so anxious before getting mine. Scientifically, non-hormonal IUDs shouldn't cause weight gain because they don't release hormones. If you are experiencing bloating, it might just be water retention during your periods. Try not to stress too much.

The copper IUD is completely hormone-free, so medical studies show it doesn't cause weight gain. Any weight changes might be due to other lifestyle factors, thyroid, or natural metabolic shifts. Keep tracking your diet and consult your gynecologist if you still feel concerned.

I got my copper T inserted three months ago and I feel like I've put on two kilos, especially around my belly. Is anyone else experiencing this with a non-hormonal IUD, or is it just in my head? I'm really starting to get worried.

No, non-hormonal IUDs do not cause weight gain as they contain no hormones. Any gain is likely due to other reasons.
