Can naproxen cause weight gain?

I've been taking naproxen occasionally for my knee pain, and I've noticed I'm gaining weight despite no changes in diet. Can naproxen cause weight gain as a side effect? I'm worried it might be contributing.

No beta, it does not cause real weight. Sometimes it just holds extra water in the body, which goes away once you stop the medicine. Keep eating light home-cooked food and you will be absolutely fine.

Bro, naproxen doesn't cause actual fat gain, but it can make you retain water, making you look bloated. Honestly, my real weight gain comes from the extra butter naan I order, not the painkillers! Just drink lots of water to flush it out.

No, it doesn't cause permanent weight gain. It just causes minor water retention in some people. Don't worry, it will go back to normal soon.

Naproxen is an NSAID and can sometimes cause sodium and water retention, which feels like sudden weight gain. It is not actual fat. Just make sure to limit your salt intake while you are taking it and it should resolve quickly.

Naproxen can cause mild fluid retention which might show up as a kilo or two on the scale, but it is temporary. It is not fat gain. If you are taking it long-term and noticing swelling, please consult your prescribing doctor to review it.
