Can muscle gain cause weight gain?

I've been hitting the gym seriously for a few months now, trying to bulk up. My weight has gone up a bit on the scale, but my trainer says it's muscle. Just wondering if gaining muscle actually makes you weigh more or if something else is going on.

Oh, I totally get anxious about this too! When I saw the scale rise after starting gym, I almost quit because I thought I was getting fat. But actually, muscle is much denser than fat, so you will gain weight on the scale even if you look slimmer. Try not to overthink it, you are doing great!

I totally get it, seeing the number go up when you are trying to get fit is so discouraging. But please remember that gaining muscle is a very good thing for your metabolism. Your body is just getting stronger, so try to ignore the scale for a bit.

It is completely natural to feel scared and confused when the scale goes up instead of down. I used to obsess over every 100 grams. But muscle is indeed heavier and denser than fat, so muscle gain absolutely causes weight gain. Your body is just changing for the better, trust the process.

As a diabetic, gaining muscle is actually excellent for insulin sensitivity. When I started strength training, my weight went up slightly, but my HbA1c levels improved drastically. Focus on your health parameters and blood sugar, not just the raw weight numbers.

Man, my muscles are gaining weight but my eyes are gaining dark circles from no sleep. Yes, muscle gain absolutely increases weight because muscle is dense. I wish my bank balance went up as fast as this muscle weight on the scale, honestly.

Well, muscle gain definitely adds weight, but in my case, it's usually the post-workout parathas that add the extra weight! Muscle is dense and heavy, which is normal, but just keep an eye on your calorie intake so you don't overdo the eating part.

Everyone online will tell you 'it's just muscle', but you shouldn't blindly assume that. If you've gained a lot of weight quickly, it could be water retention or some metabolic issue. Better to consult a qualified nutritionist or a doctor to get your body fat percentage checked properly.
