Can mold cause hair loss?

I've been working in an old, damp office building with a known mold issue for the past few months. I've noticed my hair thinning considerably since then. Is it possible that mold can cause hair loss?

Haan beta, agar ghar mein bahut silan aur gundagi ho toh baal jhadne lagte hain kyunki hawa saaf nahi hoti. Apne kamre ko dhoop dikhaiye aur thoda sa sarson ka tel lagaiye, sab theek hoga.

I didn't know mold could affect hair. My room has a lot of dampness and I have been losing a lot of hair lately. Is there actually a connection between mold spores and scalp health?

My scalp has been itching like crazy and clumps of hair are falling out since we got mold in our kitchen. I am so scared of going bald. Has anyone else experienced hair loss specifically because of mold?

Mold can cause systemic inflammation and allergic stress, which might indirectly lead to temporary hair thinning. Keep up your outdoor running and workout routine to reduce stress, as long as your doctor says it's fine.

I ignored my persistent scalp itching and hair loss for months, thinking it was just due to the damp bathroom mold. By the time I went to the doctor, it was a severe fungal infection. Please get it checked by a professional early.

With PCOS, my hair fall is usually hormonal, but environmental allergens like mold can definitely increase overall body stress. I'd suggest getting your hormones and vitamin levels checked rather than assuming it's only mold.

I can only share what happened to me; when I lived in a very damp basement flat, my scalp got very itchy and my hair started thinning rapidly. Once I moved to a dry, sunny apartment, my hair fall stopped completely.

My dermatologist explained that mold toxins or fungal spores can sometimes cause scalp infections like ringworm, which lead to localized hair loss. She suggested a medical anti-fungal shampoo and cleaning the living space.
