Can mirena iud cause hair loss?

I got a Mirena IUD inserted about six months ago. Since then, I've noticed more hair shedding than usual, especially when I brush my hair. I'm wondering if this could be related. Can Mirena IUD cause hair loss?

Yes, some women do experience hair thinning with Mirena due to the progesterone hormone. It might be helpful to check your vitamin levels as well to rule out other causes.

It is honestly heartbreaking to deal with hair loss when you already have so many other physical changes going on. I faced severe hair thinning after getting my IUD and felt so down about it. Please know you are not alone, and it is a known side effect for some of us.

I completely understand how stressful it is to see your hair falling out after getting an IUD, it literally made me so anxious. While hair loss can sometimes happen as your body adjusts to Mirena's hormones, it usually settles down after a few months. Try to take deep breaths and don't panic.

Since I have PCOS, I have to be very careful with hormonal birth control as it can sometimes trigger hair thinning. Mirena has a specific type of progesterone that might cause hair fall in sensitive individuals. It is best to discuss your hormonal profile with your doctor before deciding to keep or remove it.

Don't blindly trust online forums where people blame the IUD for every single health issue they have. Hair loss can be due to thyroid, stress, or nutritional deficiencies. Please get a proper blood test done and consult your gynaecologist before making any assumptions.

I had significant hair fall after getting Mirena, but my dermatologist helped me manage it with specific hair serums and multi-vitamins. It took about six months for my body to adapt, and now my hair is back to normal. Give it some time and focus on a high-protein diet.
