Can minoxidil make hair loss worse?

I started using minoxidil about two months ago for hair regrowth. Initially, I thought it was just a shedding phase, but my hair loss seems to have increased significantly. Can minoxidil actually make hair loss worse?

Hey there! Don't worry, it actually gets worse before it gets way better. The initial shedding is just the old hair making room for shiny new roots. Just keep going and you will see the magic in a few months!

Dude, I've been on minoxidil for three weeks and my pillow is covered in hair every morning. I'm so scared that I am going completely bald because of this. Did anyone else experience this crazy shedding, and does it actually get better?

Ah, the classic minoxidil trap! It scares the living daylights out of you by throwing your hair on the floor first. Don't panic, it is just clearing the old grass to grow a brand new lawn on your head.

Honestly, between my night shifts and bad sleep, my hair was already leaving me, and minoxidil made it shed even faster initially. But my doctor said it's just the old hair clearing out. I'm too tired to stress about it, just trusting the process now.

Yes, it can cause temporary shedding in the first month. It is normal and stops on its own as new hair starts growing.

I usually suggest home remedies like amla and bhringraj oil for mild hair fall, but minoxidil is a different medical treatment. It does cause temporary shedding at first, which is normal. However, if your scalp gets very red, itchy, or swollen, stop using it immediately and see a doctor.

As someone dealing with PCOS hair thinning, I was very scared to try minoxidil. My dermatologist explained that the initial shedding is normal, but since our hormones are sensitive, we should always do this under medical supervision to monitor any scalp reactions.
