Can minocycline cause hair loss?

I was prescribed minocycline for my acne a few months ago. While my skin has improved, I've noticed my hair seems to be thinning more than usual. I'm worried it might be a side effect. Can minocycline cause hair loss?

Hey, I was on minocycline for my acne last semester. Honestly, I didn't face any hair loss, but my doctor did warn me about mild side effects. If you're noticing hair fall, it might just be stress or post-acne recovery, but maybe ask your doc once.

I log all my symptoms and medication on my health tracker, and when I was on this antibiotic, I didn't see any correlation with hair fall. Sometimes a severe infection itself causes temporary hair shedding. Try tracking your daily water and sleep to see if other metrics are off.

I know how stressful hair loss can be. While you finish your antibiotic course, try massaging your scalp with warm coconut oil and curry leaves to keep the roots strong. But don't stop your prescribed medicine without asking your doctor first.

Agree with others, it is quite rare for minocycline to cause this. Definitely check with your dermatologist to see if there is another underlying cause.

I completely understand your worry, I also get super scared about hair fall with any new medicine! Actually, minocycline is usually fine, but if you feel it's causing hair loss, tell your doc. They can easily switch you to another antibiotic so you don't have to stress.

At my age, my hair falls out just looking at a pill bottle, haha! Jokes aside, minocycline is a pretty standard antibiotic. If you're losing clumps, don't blame the medicine immediately; go get your vitamin levels checked first.

I doubt the pill is the main culprit, sometimes physical stress from the illness itself triggers shedding. Try to keep up light daily walks or mild yoga if your doctor allows, as getting some fresh air and circulation really helps with recovery and hair health.

While drug-induced hair thinning can rarely happen with certain antibiotics, it is usually temporary. The best approach is to speak directly with the physician who prescribed it to you. They can evaluate your clinical history and guide you safely.
