Can meloxicam cause kidney damage?

My doctor prescribed Meloxicam for my joint pain, but my son looked it up online and got worried about side effects. He saw that some NSAIDs can affect kidney function. I already have some health issues, so I'm concerned if taking Meloxicam regularly could cause kidney damage.

Painkillers can definitely put a lot of pressure on the kidneys if taken daily. Make sure you drink lots of water and fresh coconut water to flush things out, but if you have swelling in your feet or less urine, please stop the medicine and see a doctor immediately.

Please try not to worry too much right now. As long as you are taking the exact dose your doctor prescribed and not taking it forever, your kidneys should be absolutely fine. Just follow up with your clinic regularly.

I was also prescribed this recently and got very scared after reading about kidney risks online. Did your doctor suggest any specific safety precautions or hydration tips while taking it?

My physician clearly explained that meloxicam blocks certain enzymes which regulate blood flow to the kidneys. He advised me to do a kidney function test (KFT) every few months if I have to continue the medication long-term.

Actually yaor, regular use can definitely mess up your kidneys. My uncle had to stop it completely because his creatinine levels shot up. Always check with your doc before taking it long term.

I was prescribed meloxicam for my chronic knee pain last year. My doctor specifically ran a kidney function test first and told me to never exceed the daily dose because long term use can be risky for the renal system.

Our kidneys work harder than our bosses sometimes! Yes, overdoing these heavy meds can make them angry. Just don't treat meloxicam like daily candies and you will be completely fine.

Hey there! Yes, taking NSAIDs for a long time can sometimes affect kidney health. Just stay super hydrated and make sure you don't take them without your doc's green light! 👍

Heavy medication load can definitely stress the organs. I always try to manage my joint pain through gentle stretching, mobility drills, and daily walking so I can minimize reliance on NSAIDs like meloxicam as much as possible.

It can indeed cause strain on the kidneys if you use it like normal paracetamol. I always use hot fermentation and ginger tea to cope with my arthritis pain so I only have to take meloxicam on my absolute worst days.
