Can magnesium glycinate cause weight gain?

I started taking magnesium glycinate for better sleep and muscle relaxation. I'm trying to maintain my weight, so I'm curious if this specific type of magnesium could lead to weight gain. Any insights would be helpful.

Magnesium glycinate is very gentle and won't make you put on weight. I always take a warm cup of chamomile tea with it at night. If you feel slightly heavy, it's just mild water retention which goes away naturally.

Wait, really? I started magnesium glycinate last week for sleep and I feel so bloated today. Has anyone else felt this same sudden weight gain or puffiness within a few days of starting it?

Oh, I was also terrified of gaining weight when my doctor prescribed this! But I researched a lot and found out it actually improves metabolism. Just make sure you aren't eating extra late-night snacks because of better sleep!

My teenage daughter has been taking magnesium glycinate for her anxiety for six months. She hasn't gained any weight at all; in fact, her sleep is much better. It is completely safe, so don't worry.
