Can lower testosterone cause weight gain?

Gaining weight steadily over the last couple of years, especially around my belly, it's getting harder to lose. Someone mentioned that low testosterone could be a reason for this. Is there a connection between low testosterone and weight gain?

Definitely, low test makes it much harder to hold onto muscle, which slows down your metabolism. When your metabolic rate drops, you start storing fat easily even if you aren't eating more. Try adding strength training 3 times a week and focus on protein to keep things balanced.

Actually yes, lower levels can totally mess with your energy, and then you just want to sit on the couch and order biryani. I noticed when my hormones were off, my sweet cravings went through the roof. It is a vicious cycle because you feel too tired to burn it off.

Yes, hormone imbalance directly affects how our body stores energy. Along with whatever treatment your doctor suggests, try incorporating some regular gentle yoga and deep breathing to manage your stress. High stress also drops testosterone, so calming the mind really helps the body heal.

It absolutely does cause stubborn weight gain. Instead of spending heavily on expensive fancy supplements, just start with a basic blood test and fix your sleep cycle first. Getting 7-8 hours of sound sleep and eating basic home-cooked meals is the cheapest way to start supporting your hormone levels.

I totally get it, it can be so frustrating to see the scale go up when you feel like you aren't doing anything wrong. Low testosterone is really tough because it drains your motivation along with your physical energy. Please be gentle with yourself and take it one step at a time with a good doctor.

Please don't ignore this like I did. I kept blaming my slow metabolism and lazy weekends for my weight gain, but it was actually a hormonal issue that got worse over two years. Go get your hormones checked by a doctor before you waste time trying random diets.

In my late 40s, I suddenly started putting on weight around my belly and felt tired all the time. Turns out my testosterone had dipped quite a bit. Don't worry too much, once you get a simple blood test done, the doctor can guide you easily and you will feel active again.

My cousin went through this exact same thing last year and kept wondering why he was gaining weight despite eating normally. When he got tested, his levels were super low. It's so common but people rarely talk about it, so definitely get a blood panel done to be sure.
