Can low protein cause hair loss?

My hair has started thinning quite noticeably, and I'm concerned. I try to eat healthy, but as a vegetarian, I sometimes worry about my protein intake. Could low protein intake be causing my hair loss?

Actually, yes, yaar! Our hair is literally made of protein called keratin, so if you are not eating enough paneer, eggs, or dal, your hair will definitely start falling out. I increased my daily protein intake and it made a huge difference to my hair volume. You should try tracking your food once.

Haan, bilkul! Protein ki kami se hair fall toh ho hi jata hai, halke mein mat lo isse. Humare North Indian khane mein dal aur dahi toh roz hota hi hai, bas unki quantity thodi badha do. Ek baar doctor se milkar test karwa lo na, clear ho jayega sab kuch.

While diet is very important, sudden or severe hair loss can also be a sign of thyroid issues or other medical conditions. It is not safe to just self-diagnose and start taking heavy protein supplements on your own. Please consult a qualified doctor or dermatologist to get a proper diagnosis first.

I can only speak from my own experience, but my hair shedding stopped drastically once I started paying attention to my daily protein intake. I was mostly eating carbs and missing out on protein, which was a big mistake. After consulting a nutritionist and fixing my meals, my hair health became much better.

I totally get it, seeing your hair thin out can really damage your confidence and make you feel so low. Our bodies need adequate protein to repair and grow hair cells properly. Please take care of yourself, try adding some simple protein sources to your meals, and consult a doctor to help you out.

Managing PCOS has taught me that hair loss is often a mix of hormonal issues and nutritional gaps like low protein. I try to be very cautious and supportive with health advice because everyone's body reacts differently. I highly recommend discussing your diet and hair concerns with your doctor to get a personalized plan.
