Can low magnesium cause hair loss?

My hair has become very thin and I'm losing a lot of strands every day. I heard that magnesium deficiency can lead to hair loss. Is it possible for low magnesium to cause this problem?

Before you spend thousands on expensive hair oils and laser treatments, look at your basic daily diet. Low magnesium can definitely affect hair growth, but you can easily find it in simple foods like almonds, bananas, and green leafy vegetables. Try adding these to your daily meals first and see if it makes a difference.

I actually just recovered from a severe hair shedding phase and my blood tests showed my magnesium and vitamin D levels were quite low. My dermatologist explained that magnesium is crucial for protein synthesis and hair follicle health. Once I started my prescribed supplements and added pumpkin seeds to my diet, the hair fall stopped.

I know how stressful it is to lose hair, but please try not to worry too much. Sometimes our body is just lacking a small nutrient like magnesium, and it gets better once we take care of it. Sending you lots of strength, hopefully a quick doctor's visit will help solve this soon.

Yes, low magnesium can contribute to hair loss because it helps prevent calcium buildup on the scalp, which blocks hair follicles. In my experience, taking a proper magnesium supplement along with using a gentle scalp massage routine worked wonders. Definitely get a blood test done so you know exactly what your body is missing.

I can't say for sure if it's the exact medical cause, but I noticed a huge improvement in my hair thickness after I fixed my magnesium deficiency. I was taking it mainly for muscle cramps, but my hair health also got much better as a side benefit. It might be worth checking your levels.

Hair loss can happen due to many reasons like stress, genetics, or thyroid, so it's not safe to assume it's only because of low magnesium. Please consult a qualified doctor or a dermatologist who can do a proper scalp examination and blood tests. Don't start taking random mineral supplements on your own.
