Can low iron cause weight gain?

Despite trying different diets, I've noticed a gradual weight gain that I can't explain. My doctor told me my iron levels are a little low. Could this be contributing to my weight gain?

With my thyroid issue, I have to be very careful with my weight, and my doctor always checks my iron levels too. Low iron causes extreme fatigue, which makes you inactive and can slowly lead to weight gain. I highly suggest getting regular blood tests and following up with your doctor to manage both.

Oh, I totally relate to this! Last year, I was gaining weight and felt too exhausted to even walk, and turns out my iron was extremely low. When you have no energy, you just want to lie down and eat comfort food, which doesn't help. Getting my iron up really helped get my energy and weight back on track.

I have seen this question pop up quite often here. Low iron leads to anemia, which reduces oxygen delivery to your tissues, slowing down your metabolism and making you feel too tired to exercise. It is a very common cycle, so getting a simple blood count done is a very practical first step.

Look, if you don't have enough iron, your body won't have the energy to burn fat, it is as simple as that. Stop searching for magical diets on the internet and get a proper blood test done. Once you fix the deficiency under a doctor's guidance, your body will start functioning properly again.

Hey, don't stress too much about the scale going up! If your iron is low, your body is just struggling to keep up, which makes you feel lazy and tired. Just get your levels checked and talk to a doctor, it is super easy to fix with some basic tablets and diet changes, trust me.

I cannot give any medical advice, but in my own experience, my weight stopped budging when my iron levels dropped. I was working out but just felt completely drained of energy all the time. Once I took the iron supplements my doctor prescribed, my stamina returned and weight loss became easier.

My elders always suggest drinking curry leaf juice for low iron, which is very good for health. However, for a proper diagnosis and treatment of weight changes and fatigue, trusting your doctor is the safest path. They can check if the low iron is affecting your thyroid or metabolic health.

If your iron is low, your VO2 max and overall stamina suffer, making even a simple brisk walk feel like a marathon. Focus on light walking if your doctor allows, and don't push yourself too hard until your iron levels are back to normal. Healing your body internally is the first step to fitness.

In our times, we focused on eating fresh, seasonal foods to keep our strength up. If your iron is low, try eating some beetroot, apples, and black sesame seeds to build your blood strength naturally. But please do consult a proper doctor to see if you need medical tablets as well.

My teenage daughter was constantly tired and starting to put on weight, and we discovered it was due to low iron from heavy periods. As a mother, I made sure she took her doctor-prescribed iron pills along with a diet of ragi and spinach. Her energy levels have improved so much now and her weight has stabilized.
