Can lovastatin cause weight gain?

My doctor prescribed Lovastatin for my cholesterol a few months back. Since then, I've noticed I'm putting on a bit of weight, especially around my stomach. Could this medicine be causing it, or is it something else I should be looking into?

I love my kebabs too much to blame my weight gain on Lovastatin! But on a serious note, statins can sometimes increase blood sugar slightly, which might affect your appetite. Keep an eye on those extra parathas!

I started Lovastatin two months ago and I feel like my weight is slowly going up despite eating the same. Has anyone else felt this way? I am really worried if it's the medicine causing it.

Haan, thoda weight gain ka issue ho sakta hai statins ke sath kyunki yeh metabolic rate ko slow kar dete hain kabhi kabhi. Doctor se discuss kar lo aur diet thodi clean rakho na.

Weight gain with Lovastatin is actually very rare and usually minimal! Just keep up with light walking and a healthy diet, and you'll manage it perfectly fine! 👍

I totally understand how stressful it is to see the scale go up when you are trying to manage your cholesterol. It is normal to feel anxious, but please check with your doctor before stopping the medicine, as cholesterol control is very important.

Actually yaar, some studies say statins can make you feel a bit tired, so you end up moving less without realizing it. Just track your steps daily and make sure you aren't eating extra carbs, simple as that!
