Can liver spots be raised?

My mother has several dark spots, which we call liver spots, on her arms. Recently, some of them have become a bit raised or bumpy. Is it normal for liver spots to be raised, or should we get them checked?

I totally get it, finding a raised spot on your skin can be really scary. Usually normal liver spots are flat, so if it is raised, it might be something else like a seborrheic keratosis. Do get it checked to ease your mind.

Actually, true solar lentigines (liver spots) are flat. My doctor explained that if a spot is raised, it is more likely a seborrheic keratosis, a mole, or sometimes a skin growth that needs biopsy. You should definitely get it checked to rule out anything serious.

Oh God, I also get so paranoid when I see any new bump on my skin. If it is raised, it might not be a simple sun spot, so please go see a dermatologist soon. I hope everything is perfectly fine, keep us updated!

Don't search for skin remedies or diagnoses on the internet, people will tell you to apply weird kitchen ingredients. A raised skin spot needs to be physically examined by a qualified dermatologist, so just book an appointment.

I had a few raised brown spots on my back that looked like liver spots. I went to my doctor and he told me they were harmless warts and frozen them off easily. It's best to let a professional see them.
