Can liver damage cause back pain?

My mother has been experiencing persistent back pain for several months now, and doctors haven't been able to pinpoint the exact cause. She also has a history of liver problems. Could liver damage be the reason for her chronic back pain?

Beta, sometimes when the liver is swollen, the ache can travel to your right shoulder and back. You can try drinking warm water with a little turmeric to reduce internal swelling, but please do not ignore this. If the back pain is severe, visit a doctor instead of using hot water bags.

Yes, liver pain can radiate to the back, but before you spend thousands on expensive MRI scans for back pain, get a basic Liver Function Test (LFT) first. It only costs around 500-800 rupees in most local labs and will clearly show if your liver is the culprit.

In my fifties, I had this persistent dull ache in my upper back and right side, which we later found was due to fatty liver. Once I corrected my diet and lost some weight, the pain completely went away. Don't worry, just get a proper checkup.

Actually, referred pain is very common. An inflamed liver can press on nerves that send pain signals to your right shoulder blade and upper back. It is best not to just keep taking painkillers for back pain, as they can load the liver further. Get it checked properly.

My grandmother used to say that any pain in the upper right back could be due to a sluggish liver or gallbladder. While her herbal teas helped with my digestion, I still visited our family doctor to get an ultrasound. It is always safest to trust medical science for such issues.

Dude, I thought my back pain was just from bad posture during gaming, but my doc told me my liver was slightly swollen. Totally blew my mind that liver issues could feel like back pain. Definitely get a doctor to check it out if it doesn't go away.

I was hogging on parathas and heavy gravies daily until I got this weird back pain on the right side. Turned out my liver was struggling with all that fat! Had to cut down my oily food cravings. If you love food, maybe give your liver a rest for a few days and see if the pain drops.
