Can leukemia cause weight gain?

Experiencing some unexplained weight gain lately, along with feeling tired and unwell, I was reading online about various conditions. I saw leukemia mentioned in a list of causes for weight changes. Can leukemia actually cause weight gain?

Beta, leukemia generally causes weight loss because the body gets very weak. If there is weight gain, it could be due to the side effects of medicines like steroids, so please eat simple, home-cooked food and consult your doctor.

This is a serious oncological query and nobody on the internet can give you a safe answer. Please speak directly to your oncologist about any sudden weight changes, as it can be due to fluid retention or medication.

Yes, it can happen, but usually it's from the steroid treatments rather than the leukemia itself. Keep your doctor updated.

During my treatment, I actually put on a lot of weight because of the high-dose steroids and fluid buildup, not the cancer itself. Once the therapy ended, my weight slowly returned to normal, so hang in there.

Please keep your mind peaceful during this journey, as stress also affects the body deeply. The physical changes like weight changes are often due to the intense medications, so trust your doctors and pray for strength.

Sometimes medications make us crave heavy comfort foods or cause bloating which looks like weight gain. Just eat what makes you feel comfortable and don't stress about the scale right now.
