Can lack of sleep cause memory loss?

My memory isn't what it used to be, and I often forget small things or names. My wife says it's because I spend too much time watching TV late at night and not getting enough rest. Can a prolonged lack of sleep actually contribute to memory loss?

Absolutely, it ruins your productivity. If I sleep less than 6 hours, I start forgetting basic things like meeting timings and passwords at work. If your schedule is tight, block sleep time on your calendar just like a meeting.

Yes, absolutely. Brain fog and forgetting things is extremely common when you don't sleep enough.

Honestly, I panicked so bad last year thinking I was getting early dementia because I kept forgetting keys and names. My doctor told me it was just severe sleep deprivation. Once my sleep improved, my memory came back to normal, so don't worry.

Yes, sleep is when our brain consolidates memories. Along with getting proper sleep, try to go for a light 20-minute walk daily in the morning sun. It helps clear the brain fog and improves sleep quality naturally.

Omg yes! During semester exams, I pull all-nighters and then blank out completely during the paper. It's like my brain just refuses to store information without sleep. Now I try to sleep at least 5-6 hours before an exam.
