Can knee pain be caused by back?

I've been having knee pain for a while, and sometimes my lower back also hurts, especially after sitting. My physiotherapist suggested that the knee pain might actually be coming from my back. Can back problems really cause pain in the knee?

Yes, absolutely! I spent three months treating my knee with gels and hot water bags, but nothing worked. Finally, my doctor checked my spine and found a pinched nerve in my lower back was causing the knee pain. Once my back was treated, my knee pain vanished.

Don't blindly believe people online telling you it's a back issue or a knee issue. Pinched nerves in the spine can cause referred pain, but only an MRI or a proper doctor's physical exam can tell you the truth. Go visit a specialist instead of guessing.

I manage high blood pressure and have to stay active, but back pain shooting down to my knees makes it very hard. My doctor told me that poor posture affects both the spine and the lower joints. Regular checkups and light physical therapy have helped me keep both in check.

Haan na, actually this is very common. My father-in-law had the same issue where his lower back pain was radiating down to his knees. We thought it was arthritis but it was sciatica. You should definitely show a doctor once.

I was just reading an article about this because my mom has both back and knee pain. Apparently, nerves from your lower spine travel all the way down your legs, so a back problem can easily feel like knee pain. It's really fascinating how the body is connected!
