Can kidney stones cause weight gain?

I've been slowly gaining weight for no clear reason, and recently a scan showed I have a kidney stone. My aunt said sometimes kidney issues can affect weight. Can kidney stones actually cause weight gain?

I wish I could blame my extra 5 kilos on my kidney stones, but honestly, it doesn't work that way! The stone itself doesn't cause weight gain, but the sheer lack of movement because of the pain and bloating from drinking gallons of water might make you feel heavier. Better check with your doctor if the scale is rising.

Hey, don't worry too much if you feel a bit bloated right now. Kidney stones can sometimes cause water retention or abdominal swelling, which feels like weight gain, but it's not actual fat. Take it easy, keep sipping warm water, and consult your doctor to ensure your kidneys are functioning perfectly.

Directly, kidney stones don't add weight. But because of the pain, many people stop walking and just lie down, which can slow down digestion and cause temporary fluid retention. Just try to eat light, home-cooked food, do mild walking if the pain is gone, and get a doctor's advice on your diet.

Honestly, when I had kidney stones, I was in too much pain to even eat properly, so I actually lost some weight. But my doc said some people get bloated due to water retention or medications. If you are gaining actual weight, it might be due to something else, so maybe get it checked.

I can only tell you what happened to me. When I had my stone, I felt super bloated and the scale showed two kgs extra, probably because I was drinking so much water and was too scared to move around. Once the stone passed, my body went back to normal within a week.
