Can kidney damage from nsaids be reversed?

Chronic knee pain led me to take a lot of painkillers for it. My doctor warned me about potential kidney issues. I want to know if cutting down on these medicines can undo any harm, or if kidney damage from NSAIDs can be reversed.

Acute kidney injury caused by excessive use of NSAIDs is very common and typically reversible once the medication is discontinued. However, chronic abuse over many years can lead to permanent damage. It is best to consult a doctor to evaluate your current kidney function.

Yes, absolutely! In most cases, if you stop taking pain relievers like NSAIDs, your kidneys can bounce back really well. Just make sure to drink plenty of water and always check with your doctor before taking any pain meds in the future.

Hey, don't stress too much! If this just happened recently, your kidneys are probably just temporarily irritated and will recover once you stop those painkillers. Just talk to your doctor about safer alternatives for pain management.

If you suspect kidney strain from painkillers, don't ignore it. A basic Kidney Function Test (KFT) only costs about 300 to 500 rupees in most labs and will give you a clear picture. Getting it checked early is much cheaper than dealing with long-term complications.

Yes, stopping NSAIDs usually allows the kidneys to heal. I track my daily water intake on my fitness app to keep my hydration levels high, which is super helpful for flushing out toxins. Definitely get a simple blood test done to track your creatinine recovery.
