Can irregular periods cause weight gain?

Since my teenage years, I've had irregular periods, and my weight has also been a constant battle. My elder sister mentioned that these two might be linked. Is it possible for irregular periods to directly cause weight gain?

Yes, totally! I've been dealing with irregular periods since college started, and my weight just shot up out of nowhere. It's so frustrating because even when I try to eat healthy, the scale barely moves. It's usually hormonal imbalances like PCOS doing this.

My wife faced this issue, and the doctor explained that insulin resistance is often the common link between irregular cycles and weight gain. Controlling your sugar intake and keeping active is very important. Make sure you get your fasting insulin and HbA1c checked.

I panicked so much when I gained 5 kgs in a month along with missed periods, thinking my body was permanently broken. But once my doctor balanced my hormones, the weight came off naturally. It's actually a very common issue, so please don't stress too much.

Listen, irregular periods and weight gain go hand in hand because your hormones are completely messed up. Don't just sit and complain about it. Cut down on junk food, sleep on time, and go see a gynecologist to get it sorted out.

Any sudden weight gain accompanied by menstrual irregularity needs a proper medical diagnosis. It could be PCOS, thyroid issues, or other hormonal conditions. Please consult a qualified gynecologist instead of trying to self-manage this at home.

I feel you, sis! When my periods get delayed, I feel so bloated and heavy, and the weight just piles on. Trying to keep a consistent sleep schedule and drinking warm cinnamon tea helped me manage the bloating a bit. Definitely get a doctor's advice though!

I dealt with severe PCOS and irregular periods for years. The weight gain is real, but it is absolutely reversible. My tip is to focus on strength training and low-GI foods rather than starving yourself. Once your hormones stabilize, the weight will drop.

I tried having methi water, ginger tea, and papaya to bring my periods on time, but the weight gain only stopped when I corrected my lifestyle. These home remedies are good for minor relief, but you must get a proper medical checkup for hormonal balance.

Ho na, hormones change hote hain toh weight gain hona natural hai. When periods are late, body water retain karti hai aur bohot bloating hoti hai, haan na. Don't stress, just visit a good gynecologist and get a routine checkup done.

Please don't worry, you are not alone in this. Irregular cycles often mean your estrogen and progesterone are fluctuating, which directly causes fluid retention and weight gain. Let's get a routine pelvic ultrasound and hormone test done so we can fix this safely.
