Can iron deficiency cause weight gain?

Diagnosed with iron deficiency for a while, I still feel constantly tired even with supplements. On top of that, I've noticed I'm gaining weight without changing my diet much. Can iron deficiency actually cause weight gain, or am I missing something else?

Yes, it actually can indirectly! 🙈 When your iron is super low, you feel too exhausted to move or exercise, and your thyroid function can also slow down. Once you get your iron levels up, your energy will bounce back and managing weight will be much easier!

I'm so tired all the time from low iron that walking to the fridge feels like a marathon. That complete lack of energy definitely makes you gain weight because you just sit around all day. Get your blood checked before you blame your midnight snacks like I did.

Instead of buying expensive fat burners, get a basic Complete Blood Count and Iron profile test first, it only costs around 500-800 rupees. Low iron makes you sluggish and slows metabolism, leading to weight gain. Fixing the deficiency with simple iron-rich food and doctor's pills is much cheaper.

I completely understand how frustrating it is when you are gaining weight for no clear reason and it starts making you anxious. Low iron causes extreme fatigue and can slow down your metabolism, which might lead to weight gain. Please get a simple blood test done, it will help you find the right path.

When my iron was low, I had zero energy to cook healthy stuff, so I just ordered greasy comfort food all the time. That sluggishness combined with bad cravings is a perfect recipe for weight gain! Keep some healthy snacks like roasted chana nearby to curb those lazy cravings.
