Can inhaler cause weight gain?

I've been using an inhaler for my asthma for a few years now, and I've noticed I've put on some weight, especially around my midsection. I'm trying to figure out the reason. Can using an inhaler cause weight gain?

If you are using regular preventer inhalers, they contain very low doses of localized steroids, which don't usually cause weight gain like oral steroid tablets do. However, as someone managing diabetes, I always keep a close watch on my diet and activity. Don't stop your inhaler, just maintain a healthy, low-sugar eating plan.

Yes, some people do feel a bit of water retention or increased appetite, but usually, daily preventer inhalers have too small a dose to cause real weight gain.

When I started my asthma treatment at Max Hospital, I asked my pulmonologist this exact question because I was terrified of gaining weight. She assured me that inhaled steroids are highly targeted and safe. Please ask your doctor clearly about your specific dosage so you don't have any doubts.

My grandmother used to say that western asthma medicines make you swell up, but my doctor cleared this myth for us. Inhalers use micro-doses that don't affect your body weight. Trust your doctor's prescription, as breathing freely is far more important for your overall health.

Do not let these worries disturb your inner peace, child. Breathing is life, and the inhaler is only helping you breathe better. It has very little medicine that stays in your lungs and won't cause weight gain. Keep a positive mind and take care of your body with gentle walks.

I was looking into this because my sister started an asthma inhaler and was worried about bloating. Most medical sites say that since the medicine goes straight to your lungs and not into your blood, it shouldn't cause weight gain. It's oral steroid pills that actually cause those issues.

Hey, don't stress too much about this, seriously! Inhalers are lifesavers and the steroid dose in them is so tiny it barely enters your system, so it won't make you gain weight. Just keep using it as prescribed so you can stay active and healthy. You're doing great, okay?
