Can ibuprofen cause weight gain?

I've been taking ibuprofen occasionally for my knee pain after workouts. I've noticed a bit of weight creeping up lately and I'm not sure why. Can ibuprofen be a reason for weight gain?

Beta, in my life I have seen that these painkillers can make your body hold onto water, which feels like sudden weight gain. It is not real fat, just some temporary swelling. Once you stop the medicine, it goes away.

My teenager was taking ibuprofen for joint pain and we noticed some mild puffiness and weight gain. The doctor told us it was just fluid retention from the medicine. It went away soon after we stopped the dosage.

Yes, NSAIDs like ibuprofen can cause your body to retain sodium and water, which definitely shows up as a sudden spike on your fitness tracker scale. It is usually temporary fluid retention, not actual fat gain.

Honestly, ibuprofen can cause fluid retention, making you look bloated and a bit heavier on the scale. It's super annoying but it's just water weight, not actual fat. Don't worry too much about it.

Yes, it is quite common to experience mild fluid retention and bloating with ibuprofen, which can seem like weight gain. It usually resolves once you finish the course. Just make sure to stay well hydrated.

Sometimes these strong medicines cause mild swelling or gas, which makes us feel heavy. Try to reduce salt in your food for a few days and drink warm water. It will naturally reduce the bloating.

I experienced this when I was taking it regularly for a back injury. It's just water retention, not real fat. Keep your salt intake low while taking it, and drink lots of water to help flush the excess fluid out.

Unless you are eating the ibuprofen tablets with a side of double cheese pizza, they won't make you fat! It is just temporary water weight making you look a bit puffy. Chill, it will go away.
