Can ibs cause weight gain?

I've been trying to manage my IBS with diet changes, but it feels like I'm gaining weight instead of losing it. My digestion is so messed up, so I'm thinking it might be related. Can IBS really cause weight gain?

Sometimes body changes happen when our digestion is not in balance. Do not worry or stress, as stress affects the gut. Just focus on eating clean, pure food with a peaceful mind and take care of your health.

Honestly, between the constant bloating making me look 6 months pregnant and eating random plain carbs because everything else hurts my gut, weight gain is totally real for me. It's a struggle but you are not alone in this!

While IBS is usually associated with weight loss, some people do gain weight due to constipation or eating only specific carb-heavy safe foods. I recommend asking your gastroenterologist clearly to rule out other metabolic issues.

A lot of bloating and slow digestion in IBS can make you gain weight. You can try drinking warm water with cumin seeds daily to help metabolism, but if you have sudden, unexplained weight changes, please see a doctor.

Yes, it can. Constant bloating and constipation often make you feel heavier and lead to actual weight gain over time.

It definitely can, especially if you have constipation-predominant IBS or if you've stopped exercising due to gut pain. Get a proper diet plan that doesn't trigger your symptoms but still keeps your calories in check.
