Can i take claritin during pregnancy?

My seasonal allergies are making me miserable with a runny nose and itchy eyes. I used to take Claritin, but I'm pregnant now. Is it safe for me to take Claritin during pregnancy?

I had terrible seasonal allergies during my second trimester and was sneezing non-stop. My doctor told me Claritin is actually quite safe to take, and it was a lifesaver. Just check with your own gynac first to be completely sure about the dose.

This question comes up a lot here! Generally, second-generation antihistamines like Claritin are considered safe during pregnancy, especially after the first trimester. Still, every pregnancy is unique, so please run it by your doctor before popping one.

I am also dealing with a really bad runny nose right now and I am so scared to take any medicine! Has anyone else taken Claritin in their first trimester and been completely fine? I'll definitely ask my doctor, but I'd love to hear your experiences.

My wife's obstetrician explained that loratadine (the active ingredient in Claritin) has been extensively studied and is considered a Category B drug, which is relatively safe. However, they usually advise avoiding any unnecessary medication during the first trimester. Definitely consult your doctor.

Haan na, pregnancy mein allergies handle karna is so difficult. Claritin is usually safe, but blindly lena theek nahi hai, ho na? Please just ask your gynac once on WhatsApp, they will tell you the exact safe brand name to buy.

Even though Claritin is an over-the-counter allergy medicine, self-medicating during pregnancy is not a good idea. Some formulations, like Claritin-D, contain other active ingredients that might not be safe. Always get it checked by your doctor first.

I can only speak from my personal experience, but my doctor cleared me to take Claritin when my dust allergy got really bad in my seventh month. It worked well and didn't cause any issues for me. Please talk to your own doctor to see what they suggest for you.

Before rushing to take Claritin, you can try doing steam inhalation twice a day and using a saline nasal spray, which are completely safe. If the allergy is still unbearable, just ask your family doctor for a safe prescription tablet.
