Normal calcium-based antacids are generally fine, but steer clear of anything containing sodium bicarbonate or heavy aluminum. Also, don't take them right next to your iron or calcium supplements because they can block absorption. Just let your gynac know which brand you are planning to use.
Most doctors do allow basic antacids, but I found that a light 15-minute walk after meals really helped with the digestion process. Eating smaller portions and staying upright also makes a huge difference. Check with your doc first, and try to keep moving gently if they say it's okay.
My wife had crazy heartburn during her last trimester. Her doctor prescribed a specific syrup that worked like magic, but told us to avoid random over-the-counter ones. It's super common, so just text your doctor once and they'll give you a safe brand name.
In our days, we relied heavily on cold milk and fennel seeds for acidity, which worked beautifully. But yes, sometimes the burning is too much and you need an antacid. There is no harm in taking them occasionally, just make sure to ask your doctor which one is safe for the baby.
I get so anxious about taking any medicine, let alone during pregnancy! Even though many antacids are considered safe, I would literally call the doctor three times to double-check the exact ingredients. Please get it approved by your doctor first so you can sleep peacefully without worrying.

Yes, they are usually safe, but check with your doctor first. Also, sitting upright for an hour after eating helped me immensely.
My elder sister was literally living on doctor-prescribed antacids during her pregnancy because of the non-stop acidity. Apparently, it's very normal, but she was strictly told not to just buy any random tablet from the chemist. Definitely ask your doc what's best.
