Can i paint my nails during pregnancy?

I love getting my nails done, but ever since I got pregnant, my mom has been telling me not to use nail polish or go to the salon. She says the chemicals are bad for the baby. Is it actually harmful to paint my nails during pregnancy?

When I was expecting my daughter, I had this same doubt because I loved doing my nails. My doctor said doing it once in a while is absolutely fine, just make sure to sit near an open window so you don't inhale the strong chemical smell. Try to use brands that are free from harsh chemicals like toluene and formaldehyde.

Haan, you can paint them, just make sure you do it in a breezy room so the smell doesn't trigger your morning sickness! Honestly, the smell of nail polish remover made me crave tangy pani puri so badly during my second trimester. Just grab some snacks, sit in a ventilated spot, and enjoy your pampering session.

My sister was super worried about this during her pregnancy last year. She actually asked her doc, and he said occasional nail paint is totally chill, just don't chew your nails or eat with wet paint on them. Just do it in a room with the fan on full speed so the smell doesn't bother you.

I completely understand why you are overthinking this, because every little thing feels risky when you are pregnant. I used to panic about using basic cosmetics too during my pregnancy. It is generally safe if you use pregnancy-friendly nail polishes, but checking with your doctor can give you that peace of mind.

My wife used to apply nail paint, but we always asked her doctor first because ignoring small safety details during pregnancy can lead to regrets later. I once ignored a persistent cough which turned into severe pneumonia, so now I urge everyone to verify even the smallest things with their doctor. It is always better to ask your gynaecologist during your next routine checkup.
