Well, unless you plan on eating cough drops like popcorn, a couple of them to soothe your throat is usually completely fine! Just don't go clearing out the whole pharmacy aisle. If your throat is ticklish, a warm salt water gargle is also a classic trick that never fails.
Cough drops are okay for temporary relief, ho na. But some of them have strong menthol, so it is better not to eat too many. Try warm water with ginger and honey at home first, it is much safer during these months.
Bahut dhyan rakhna padta hai is samay. You can take normal cough lozenges if your throat is paining, but please do not take any heavy English medicines without showing to the doctor first. Warm water is your best friend right now.
Most standard throat lozenges are fine for short-term use, but avoid brands that contain active pain-relieving medicines or high doses of herbal extracts. If your cough is severe, comes with a fever, or lasts more than a few days, please skip the drops and see your doctor.
Instead of chemical cough drops, try boiling a little ginger, black pepper, and tulsi in water, then add a spoon of honey. This is completely safe for the baby and works wonders for a throat infection. If the cough is still very bad, then definitely consult your doctor.

My doctor at Columbia Asia explicitly told me to avoid any over-the-counter medicated lozenges without checking first. Even simple drops can have ingredients that aren't fully tested for pregnancy. Better to give your doctor a quick call to get a safe brand name.
