Can i eat sour cream in pregnancy?

I'm trying a new recipe that calls for sour cream, but I'm expecting and trying to be careful about what I consume. Is it safe to eat sour cream while pregnant? I just want to make sure.

Yes, you can eat sour cream, just make sure it is made from pasteurized milk. Most packaged brands in Indian supermarkets are pasteurized, so check the label and enjoy it in moderation.

My wife used to have sour cream with her wraps occasionally. Our doctor told us that as long as it's from a reputed brand and pasteurized, there is no harm. In our family, we usually prefer fresh home-set curd, but occasional store-bought sour cream is perfectly fine.

Sour cream is fine as long as it's pasteurized, but do keep an eye on the fat content if you are watching your overall calorie intake. You can also try plain Greek yogurt as a high-protein, low-fat alternative that gives a similar tangy taste!

Commercially produced sour cream is generally pasteurized and safe to consume during pregnancy. However, if you are dining out or buying artisanal dairy, raw milk contamination can be a concern. It is always wise to double-check with your obstetrician regarding your specific dietary plan.

Haan na, sour cream is totally fine if it's pasteurized! Bas check the expiry date before eating because dairy can spoil quickly in this heat. Home-made dahi is also a great, safe option if you want to be completely tension-free.
