Can i eat scallops during pregnancy?

I'm in my second trimester and really craving some seafood lately. My doctor said to be careful with certain types, so I was wondering if scallops are generally considered safe. Is it okay to have them once in a while?

Yes, you absolutely can! Just make sure they are completely cooked and piping hot before you dig in. Undercooked seafood is a big no-no right now, but fully cooked scallops are super delicious and safe! Enjoy your meal! 🦀✨

Listen, don't stress too much about every little food item. Scallops are perfectly fine as long as they are fresh and cooked extremely well. Just avoid raw or semi-cooked ones from outside. Take care of yourself and eat clean, okay?

Honestly, during my wife's pregnancy, the food rules list was longer than my monthly grocery bills. Scallops are okay but please make sure whoever is cooking them doesn't leave them rubbery or half-done. Better to avoid street-side places entirely for this stuff right now.

I have seen this question pop up quite a bit. Yes, scallops are low in mercury and safe, but they must be fully cooked until they are firm and white. If you are ordering at a restaurant, just ask the chef to cook them thoroughly. It's always better to be a bit extra cautious.

When we were expecting, our doctor at Apollo gave us a clear sheet of what seafood is safe. He specifically said scallops are okay if they are high-quality and properly prepared. I highly suggest you just run it by your own gynecologist during your next visit to be 100% sure.
