Can i eat ham in pregnancy?

My husband often brings home different snacks and meats. We have some ham in the fridge, and I'm wondering if it's safe for me to eat while I'm expecting. I've heard conflicting things.

For the safety of the precious life inside you, it is best to avoid packaged and processed cold foods like ham. Eating fresh, warm home-cooked meals brings good energy and keeps you healthy. Stay positive and take care.

Ham is high in sodium and often contains preservatives that might not be ideal during pregnancy, especially if you are monitoring blood pressure or gestational diabetes. If you do eat it, make sure it is heated until steaming hot to kill any potential bacteria.

I faced this exact craving during my pregnancy. My gynecologist said cold deli ham is a big no, but I could eat it if I cooked it thoroughly in a pan until it was sizzling hot. That completely kills any bacteria, making it safe to eat.

Cold meats like ham are known sources of listeria, which can cause severe complications in pregnancy. It is always best to avoid it completely to be 100% safe. Please consult your doctor before eating any processed meats.

As a vegetarian, I'd suggest focusing on safer, fresh protein sources like paneer or lentils instead of processed meats. Ham has high preservatives and carries bacterial risks during pregnancy. Freshly cooked warm meals are always the best choice.
