Can hyperthyroidism cause hair loss?

A recent diagnosis of hyperthyroidism has coincided with significant hair thinning and loss, especially when I brush my hair. I'm wondering if this is a direct symptom. Can an overactive thyroid condition actually cause hair loss?

Yeah totally, my roommate was losing clumps of hair because of his thyroid issues last semester. It looked pretty scary but once he got on the right meds, his hair actually started growing back normal.

Yes, thyroid issues do cause hair fall. Before buying expensive hair growth serums, get your T3, T4, and TSH tested from a local lab which is much cheaper. Treating the thyroid first is the only way to save your hair and money.

Yes, an overactive thyroid can cause severe hair thinning. It usually stops once your hormone levels are balanced by a doctor.

My grandmother always recommended gently applying homemade curry leaf oil to soothe the scalp. However, with hyperthyroidism, you must trust your endocrinologist's prescription to balance your hormones properly.

Don't worry too much, hair fall from thyroid issues is very common and completely reversible. Once your hormone levels stabilize with treatment, your hair will regain its strength. Just make sure to visit your doctor and get started on the medicine.
