Can humira cause hair loss?

Since starting Humira for my autoimmune condition, I've noticed my hair thinning quite a bit. I'm already dealing with enough health issues, so this is very concerning. Is hair loss a known side effect of Humira?

My doctor actually mentioned that while hair loss isn't the most common side effect of Humira, it can happen in some patients due to the drug's effect on the immune system or telogen effluvium. They usually run blood tests to rule out thyroid or iron deficiencies first.

Any biologics like Humira are very strong medicines, so if you are experiencing hair loss, please report it to your rheumatologist immediately. Don't try any strong hair treatments without consulting them first as it could react.

Humira is expensive and powerful, and hair loss can indeed happen. Instead of buying costly hair serums, just focus on keeping your scalp clean, eating a simple home-cooked diet with lots of dal, and using a mild coconut oil.

If you are losing hair on Humira, do not run and buy expensive cosmetic oils. Save that money to get a comprehensive CBC and iron profile test done at a budget lab, then show those reports to your primary specialist.

Since Humira can impact your body's immune response, supporting it with a nutrient-rich vegetarian diet is key. Make sure you are taking enough protein through paneer and sprouts, and check if you need a safe Vitamin B12 supplement.

Losing chunks of hair while already dealing with a chronic illness on Humira was so devastating for me. It is incredibly stressful to look in the mirror, but please know that for many people, the shedding stops once the body adapts to the medicine.
