Can high tsh cause weight gain?

My TSH levels are thoda high according to my last blood test. I've also been feeling very tired and gaining weight, so I'm trying to connect the dots.

Yes, absolutely! When my TSH shot up to 12 last year, I gained almost 8 kgs without any change in my eating habits. Once my doctor put me on the correct dosage of thyroid medication, the weight gradually started coming down. It takes some time so have patience.

High TSH means your body's energy levels are working slowly, which leads to weight gain. Please do not worry or feel anxious about this body change. Eat fresh sattvik food, keep a peaceful mind, and take your prescribed medicine regularly.

Yes, high TSH slows down calorie burning, making weight gain very common. Alongside taking your thyroid medication regularly, try incorporating daily active walking or light strength training if your doctor permits. It helps boost your sluggish metabolism.

Listen, don't stress too much about the weight gain right now. High TSH slows down your metabolism, so it's totally normal to feel bloated and heavy. Just focus on getting your medicine dose adjusted by your doctor, and the rest will fall into place, okay?

High TSH indicates hypothyroidism, which slows down your basal metabolic rate and directly leads to weight gain and fluid retention. Rather than trying crash diets which can stress your system further, consulting an endocrinologist for a proper medication plan is the safest approach.

Bro, my TSH spiked during semester exams last year and I suddenly bloated up so much. I thought I was just eating too much hostel food, but it was actually the thyroid. Got on meds and it resolved, so don't sweat it too much.

It can be so incredibly frustrating to see the scale go up even when you are barely eating. I used to cry looking at myself in the mirror when my TSH was uncontrolled. Please know it is not your fault, it's just the thyroid hormone messing up your metabolism, and you will get through this.
