Can high liver enzymes cause weight gain?

I've noticed I'm gaining weight, even though I'm trying to eat healthy, and my liver enzymes are also elevated. Can high liver enzymes actually contribute to weight gain? I'm wondering if there's a link here.

Yes, when the liver is congested and enzymes are high, our metabolism slows down, leading to gradual weight gain. Along with clean eating, practicing Kapalbhati and gentle morning walks helped me immensely in clearing liver sluggishness naturally.

Yes, they are closely linked. When my SGPT was high, I gained 5 kgs rapidly because of a sluggish metabolism. My tip: stop all refined sugars, walk 5km daily, and don't skip your doctor's follow-up. The weight will drop once the liver heals.

I have PCOS and faced this exact issue. Insulin resistance often leads to fatty liver, high enzymes, and stubborn weight gain all at once. It's a tricky loop, so please get a proper blood test done and consult your doctor rather than trying extreme diets.

I know how frustrating it is to see the weight scale go up when you are already dealing with abnormal test reports. It caused me so much anxiety. But once I understood that metabolic slow down is common with liver inflammation, I focused on healing first.

Actually, it is often the other way around; conditions like a fatty liver cause both weight gain and elevated enzymes due to metabolic issues. It is best to consult an endocrinologist or gastroenterologist to find the root cause and get a structured plan.
