Can high blood sugar cause weight loss?

For the past few months, I've been losing weight without even trying, and a friend mentioned it could be due to high blood sugar. Is this actually a possible symptom of diabetes? I'm starting to get a bit concerned.

I lost almost 8 kgs in a month and was happy thinking my diet was working, but it was actually undiagnosed high sugar levels. Please don't ignore sudden weight loss like I did. Go get your fasting sugar tested immediately.

Actually, when blood sugar is very high, your body can't use glucose for energy, so it starts burning muscle and fat instead, leading to rapid weight loss. My doctor explained that this is a classic symptom of uncontrolled diabetes and needs prompt medical attention.

I panicked so much when my weight dropped suddenly last year alongside a high sugar reading. But once my doctor started me on the right medication and my levels normalized, my weight stabilized too. Don't worry, it is manageable.

Both thyroid imbalances and high blood sugar can cause unexpected weight loss. I highly recommend getting a complete blood panel done, including HbA1c and thyroid tests, and following up regularly with a good endocrinologist.

Yes, rapid weight loss is a classic sign of high blood sugar. I track my macro intake and blood glucose using an app, which really helped me understand how my body processes food. Try tracking your daily meals and share the data with your doctor.

I am new to this and recently noticed I am losing weight even though I eat normally, and my sugar test was high. Does this mean I need to start insulin right away, or can diet control it? I am a bit confused.

Haan na, unexpected weight loss with high sugar is actually quite common because the body isn't absorbing the food properly. Don't take it lightly, consult a doctor and start proper treatment, everything will be fine.
