Can high blood pressure medicine cause hair loss?

My friend mentioned that his hair started falling out after he began taking his BP medicine. I'm also on medication for high blood pressure and I'm a bit concerned about my hair. Can high blood pressure medicine cause hair loss?

Yes, some medicines can cause temporary hair fall, but do not let this disturb your inner peace. Take care of your body with gratitude, eat fresh fruits, and remember that hair can always grow back once your body adjusts or the medicine is changed.

It is clinically proven that certain blood pressure drugs, particularly beta-blockers, can cause hair thinning. However, you should never self-adjust your dose. It is best to consult your doctor, who can easily substitute your medicine with a different class.

I was just researching this online because my uncle started complaining about hair loss after starting his BP course. Apparently, it's a known side effect of drugs like beta-blockers. Quite a common issue, actually!

I totally get it, seeing bunches of hair fall out while you are already trying to manage your health is so disheartening. Yes, some BP meds do cause this, but please don't lose heart. Talk to your doctor as they can easily swap the pill for another one.

Well, my doctor gave me pills to control my BP, and they ended up 'controlling' my hair density too! I guess it is better to have a working heart than a full head of hair, but a quick chat with your doc can usually fix this side effect easily.

In my fifty years, I have seen many family members take BP pills and lose some hair initially. Don't worry, beta, it is just a minor side effect. Once your body gets used to the treatment or the doctor changes the brand, it stops.

My cardiologist confirmed that beta-blockers and sometimes ACE inhibitors can cause temporary hair loss by pushing hair follicles into a premature resting phase. He switched me to a calcium channel blocker, and my hair loss stopped completely.

I experienced heavy shedding just a month after starting my BP medicine. I panicked but my doctor was very helpful and changed the medication. My hair started growing back normally within a few months, so don't lose hope.
