Can hard water cause psoriasis?

I've been managing my psoriasis for years, but lately, it seems to be getting worse, especially after I moved houses a few months ago. We have incredibly hard water here, and I'm wondering if it could be aggravating my skin condition.

Bro, hard water won't directly cause psoriasis because that’s an autoimmune thing, but it definitely triggers flare-ups. When I moved to college, the hard water there made my skin super dry and itchy. I had to start using a heavy moisturizer right after showering to stop the scaling.

Haan na, hard water makes the skin so rough and itchy. Psoriasis is an internal issue, but the minerals in hard water definitely irritate the skin more, ho na. Try using a gentle soap-free cleanser and apply oil immediately after your bath.

No, it doesn't cause it directly, but the heavy minerals can severely aggravate existing dry skin and psoriasis. Use a water softener if possible.

I got so scared when I saw dry red patches on my elbows and immediately blamed the hard water in my new flat. Turns out it was just extreme dryness from the hard minerals, not actual psoriasis! Once I started using a rich body butter, my skin went back to normal, so don't stress too much.

According to most dermatological research, hard water doesn't cause psoriasis but it damages the skin barrier. The mineral residue strips natural oils, making you more prone to itching and patches. Tracking your skin flare-ups alongside water quality and humidity can help you manage it better.

Skin conditions can look very similar, so please don't assume it is just a reaction to hard water. If you are noticing red, scaly patches, you must get it checked by a qualified dermatologist. It is always better to get a proper diagnosis early rather than guessing.
