Can hard water cause kidney stones?

My father suffered from kidney stones for many years, and he always used to warn us about drinking hard water. I live in an area known for very hard water; should I be concerned about developing kidney stones because of it?

I feel your pain, kidney issues are very stressful to deal with. While there is no direct proof that hard water alone causes stones, drinking less water definitely does. I drink barley water and fresh coconut water to keep my system clean, but definitely use an RO filter for your daily drinking water.

I used to think drinking any tap water was fine and ignored a dull backache for months until I ended up in the emergency room with a painful 8mm stone. Don't take kidney health lightly. Get an ultrasound done if you have pain, and switch to RO or clean drinking water immediately.

Drinking hard water with too much calcium might increase the risk if you are prone to stones. Better to stick to purified drinking water and stay hydrated.

Agreed, hard water has high mineral content which can put extra load on your kidneys. It's best to invest in a good RO system and consult a doctor if you feel any side pain.

Hamare yahan sab kehte hain ki bhari paani peene se pathri ho jati hai. It is always safer to boil your drinking water or use a good filter to remove the heavy minerals. Please drink plenty of water daily to keep your body clean and healthy, beta.
